Sapitos Class
Miss Silvia and Miss Sugey
Week of (Semana de): February 22nd-26th
Theme of the Week (Tema de la Semana): “Science in my daily life”
“Ciencia en mi vida diaria”
Dear Sapitos Parents,
I hope you have had
a good weekend. We would like to start by saying THANK YOU to all the families
who supported our Valentine’s Day Celebration and brought items for our
afternoon snack. Children had a great time celebrating friendship!
For this week we
will continue talking about science and experiments. Science helps children to
develop skills for life such as perseverance, problem-solving and researching.
Science develops patience in children. For that, we will make a sensory tray in
which children will discover how magnets can attract metal objects and as the
strength of a magnet to another magnet works. Also, we will make an experiment
by mixing water with sand in one pitcher and water with sugar in another one.
Then both pitchers will be placed in a refrigerator for 30 minutes. Children
will discover which one will freeze first.
In addition, we
will watch a video in which children will observe places in bad conditions
(careless, dirty, and abandoned). After watch it we will discuss the things
that they would like to do to get better those places. We also will encourage
them to care the places that are around them such as their school,
neighborhood, and community.
At home you can
help your child by just doing a simple activity which helps them understand
cause and effect, for example: flying a kite shows wind speed and direction.
Song:
“How things work” “Como funcionan las cosas”
We have our
new CD SFF where we invite you to listen with your children and enjoy the new
songs featuring the CD.
