Week of January 27th - 31st !!!

Theme of the Month/Week (Tema del Mes/Semana): “The Universe and Me/El Universo y Yo”

This week our children will learn about the Four Elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire and the importance of these elements in our daily life.

New words/palabras nuevas: a lot/mucho, few/poco, long/largo, short/corto, inside/adentro, outside/afuera, thick/grueso, thin/delgado.

Special events this week/Welcome/Birthdays (Eventos especiales esta semana/Bienvenida/Cumpleanos):

Sammy, our pet, will start traveling this week. There is a sign up sheet outside the classroom, so please take a look and pick up your week. This is a fun activity for the family. Sammy is very excited to go to each children’s house and spend time with every family. He likes to go shopping, go to the park, dance, listen to stories, and much more. Please be gentle and give him lots of hugs, and of course, take pictures for your memories.

This week we found Monica’s jacket. Thank you so much for your help.

Dear Parents:

Check your children’s cubby every week and leave only the necessary ítems: one complete set of extra cloths, one jacket, a hat, a pair of gloves and a blanket (labeled).

Doing this you will help us to keep them clean and organized.

Toys are not allowed in the classroom unless they are required by the teachers for special activities, and the first Friday of every month when is PJ Day.

We will appreciate your cooperation.

Homework these weeks (Tarea de estas semanas):

Some activities that we will do this week, are:

Ø    trace the letter I on trays with colored sand (fine motor, sensory and  pre-writing activity),

Ø    walk on tip-toes on the letters A – E – I (cognitive, gross motor and pre-writing activity)

Ø    make scientific experiments to learn about the four elements (cognitive)

Ø    dress up the girl and boy dolls (socio-emotional)

Ø    work with mini-puzzles (fine motor)

Ø    make Kids Yoga Poses (gross motor)

Ø    classify blocks by shape and color (mathematics)

Ø    explain actions in pictures (language)

Thank you to Wilfrid Amoakon and Darcy Demidovich for sharing their telescopes with the Sapitos Classroom. Everybody had fun looking the space and trying to find the planets, the moon and the stars.
