Week of (Semana de): May 25th-29th
Theme of the Week: How things works (Como funcionan las cosas)
Hello Sapitos Parents, I hope you had a great weekend! This week we will continue to
demonstrate media to our children. We will ask them to share their interpretations and opinions. Conversations
about media benefit children by improving the vocabulary, enabling them to evaluate
what they watch and hear.
We will have children observe newspaper and magazines,
listen to the different stations on the radio (music, talk, sports, etc.), and
examine flyers. From this, we will have our children create their very own
magazine and newspaper! The children will cut out the things they most liked
and paste it on a piece of construction paper. To make it feel more realistic,
I will need your assistance to provide us with a picture of your child so that
we can paste it on their magazine. They will also create flyers and distribute
them to another classroom for fun.
At home you can reinforce and encourage
your child to play and use media-arts tools. A great option could be singing a song or telling a story on tape.
You can record your child’s voice as he or she tells a story, sings a
song, or puts on a puppet show. After they are finished, play back the tape.
Most young children are completely captivated by hearing their own voices and
the voices of their friends!
Friendly Reminders:
